Weekend Wrap Image Section

The LA.Times Image section had a great article by Whitney Friedlander  called "Hits and Mrs."
which was all about bloggers that extol the virtues of being a good wife and partner.
The article said that in these trying times we are "forced to think about what is really important in our lives"
and "this manifest itself in the form of hobbies, travel and spending more time with one's family."

Also, Derek Blasberg author of "Classy:Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady" for good manners in the age of the internet.
On the question of what every women should have in her closet. "Good pair of jeans, a trench coat, a cardigan, big pair of glasses and a great pair of shoes"
Article by Max Padilla

Lastly, a very interesting article about the great designer Halston.
He went from top fashion designer to drug addict that lost his job and was " unable to design under his own name"
A Bible college in Nashville was the the only place that would take his archives after his death, "where they are stored to this day in dusty boxes."
Can you imagine?

Passport for a toddler

I was charged recently with acquiring a passport for my toddler.
Sounds easy enough.
NOT
First off getting the picture was a feat.
1. Make sure toddler is well rested and happy for said picture
2. Take toddler to CVS for picture
3 .Explain to childless picture taker that they have to take the picture "really fast"
4. See the toddler mommy jump up and down to get their attention long enough to take a picture
5. See the other customers stare at the crazy lady in CVS.
Okay that's done, now we go to the post office to wait in line at the passport agency.
Daddy has taken a half day off to come with me(both parents have to be present)
We wait in line for over one hour with said toddler.
Finally, its our turn.
All my paper work is done, pictures are ready...................
Dour faced passport man says "the pictures are the wrong size"and "we don't take pictures of toddlers"
ok.....
Mommy goes back to CVS and repeats steps 1-5
except this time I take a ruler and measure the picture.
Daddy gets a notarized excuse on why he can't be present at the passport office and
back I go again...
I was so nervous, you would think I had a job interview
New semi-dour passport man says.."I think these pictures are the wrong size"
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
"Oh wait, their ok."
Me-"Thank-you God"
Toddler passport is on its way!

Fried Lobster

This weekend I made one of my favorite things-fried lobster!
There is nothing better than fried lobster tail.  I bread the lobster pieces in seasoned panko crumbs and fry in olive oil.
I do fry outside on the grill to keep the cleanup to a minimum.

Give it a try!

Cupcake!

For my Mother's Day treat my DH and daughters got me a giant cupcake from Crumbs bakery.
The cupcakes weigh over 4 lbs. and serves 8 (not at my house!)
Crumbs has over 50 varieties of cupcakes and they will ship them to you!
We drove over to Malibu and  picked up this precious baby, then proceeded to enjoy shopping and a snack at Malibu Country Mart.
I chose to get a coconut cupcake and it was delish!  Very moist and tasty.
I will be back for more!
